Why Most People Resist Growth

What years in edtech taught me about human behavior.

Most people do not want growth.

They want permission to stay stuck.

I learned this the hard way.

For a long time, I thought my role was to push.

Help people move.

But most people are not stuck because they cannot move.

They are stuck because they have not decided to.

It usually shows up in one of two ways.

  • "I'm not good enough yet."
  • "This work is beneath me."

Different words.

Different insecurities.

Same ending.

The hard part is accepting that you cannot help someone who has not decided to change.

You can offer every opportunity.

You cannot make the decision for them.

Until they decide, everything sounds good and changes nothing.

If you're leading a team or building something, stop pushing people who have not chosen to move.

If they want it, help them.

If they do not, step back.

That was the hardest lesson I learned as an edtech founder.

Effort gets attention.

Decision creates progress.

Without decision, effort becomes false hope.

Spend your energy on people who have already decided.
